The Fall

An absurd, visual, poetic and moving performance.

I am a circus performer and I am terrified of falling. My body stiffens at the thought of the dizzying sensation of freefalling through the air.

I freeze at the thought of the loss of control and the humiliation of the small fall and feel the anxiety of the great, never-ending fall. Because after the fall there is nothing. Or is there?

I have practiced not to fall all my artistic life. I have developed a feeling for falling. I know the difference between falling and failing. I know the fall that happens so quickly that you hardly see it, and the fall that continues for several minutes, several hours, or several years.
– Signe Løve Anderskov

In THE FALL by Cikaros, the stage is occupied by three of the country’s leading circus artists: Signe Løve Anderskov, Henriette Aarup and Kajsa Bohlin.

They have worked professionally with (not) falling for over 20 years. Now they share their anxiety and wonder with the audience, unfolding the phenomenon of ‘falling’ physically and existentially. With inspiration from autobiographical material, from literature and language, from Einstein, Ikaros and the fall, they explore the anatomy and mythology of the fall.
