With the Masterclass, we deepen the focus on articulation and facilitate a space where artistic methodology within circus arts is at the foreground. The masterclass is a mix of conceptual/theoretical sharing and embodied practice exploration. We envision participants will be activated to reflect on and share their current methodologies, as well as be inspired to explore new avenues in their respective practices. 

The masterclass is designed for professional circus artists who have an active artistic practice. Due to the overall focus of the project on process and articulation, rather than technique, the class is open to artists from all disciplines within circus and crossover artforms (dance or other physical disciplines). 

The masterclass will be taught and facilitated by John-Paul Zaccarini, Professor of Performing Arts at Stockholm University of the Arts. Read more about his academic and artistic project here & here.

About ARTiculate

The ARTiculate project focuses on artistic practitioners and artistic dimensions of circus arts. Participants in the ARTiculate project engage with formats of knowledge exchange and discussions about their artistic methodologies, understood here as the specific ways in which artists generate, structure, and communicate their artistic work.

Methodological aspects can be: structure of the creative process, artistic tools employed,  format, themes, models of working, a system of methods, approaches, and creative values. Participants will be invited to explore how they articulate their methods, as well as potential for translating methods into written, digital or other mediums.

Cost for participants: 265 DKK (incl. lunch)
Reduced Fee Option: In solidarity with artists who wish to participate and must travel to Odense on high travel costs, a lower participation fee is available for 65 DKK (incl. lunch).
Food: Vegan lunch included in the participation fee

Other things to do in Odense/at DYNAMO: Friday 21st August at 17.00 – Mordicus work in progress with Galapiat Cirque. The HC Andersen Festival is going on in Odense that week.
