W/HOLE

On all the holes in the whole world

Holes are frightening and holes are fascinating. Holes represent possibilities and some holes are completely impossible to grasp. There are so many holes that we can never hope to get to the bottom of them all.

W/hole follow two  jugglers in their shared fascination with all of the holes that surround them. A surprising and absorbing interest which has led them from buttonholes to the deepest hole in the world, which is situated in Murmansk.

No hole is too big or small to contain their wonder – the holes they discover, the holes they fill and the holes they create as they go along.

From the taciturn relationship between these two anti-heros, and from their unorthodox choice of juggling objects, a wholehearted and hare-brained performance emerges. Combining deadpan comedy with their delicate sense of nerdy perseverance.

In their down-to-earth, do-it-yourself fashion, they employ shovels, buckets, ropes, sand and scaffolds to create a juggling show which is fully-formed, though full of holes; a piece about all of the things which are only there because other things are not. They remind us that in order to descend, one must sometimes step up.

In the end, we human beings are no more than the collection of matter around the hole which, in our own singular ways, we leave behind in the world when we die.

‘W/hole’ combines spectacular and visual qualities with the experience of two new circus artists of exceptional class.” – Teateravisen (Danish)
