Work-in-progress presentation by circusnext finalists, the company Faro Celeste.
Hack the Circus is a low-tech science fiction show where technological devices are handmade—just like something you might create in your own backyard.
In a post-apocalyptic future, three women have survived by seeking refuge in a dark space filled with electronic materials and plants. They do not speak the same language, are of different ages, and have varying levels of stage experience. It’s an unchosen community, brought together by the need to collect and archive what remains after the catastrophe. In the hackerspace that serves as their home, we witness their daily lives revolving around electronic inventions and oddities, the care of their plants, their equipment—and themselves. One day, a fourth woman arrives and forces them to question their relationship to life together, understanding, memory, and forgetting.
