Häppy Hour // CURRENTLY ON TOUR

A circus performance about the morning after the evening before.

Häppy Hour is a tribute to the deep dark North and its social culture. It addresses the contradictory relationship with alcohol and explores the strange and awkward experiences that nightlife in the North has to offer. Through a contemporary circus and comedy lens, various circus skills (acrobatics, juggling, aerial rope) are interpreted, bending the line between the seemingly normal and the strangely spectacular. Häppy Hour approaches real situations with awkward humor, showing that things are not always so serious and that it’s okay to laugh at ourselves, even when we are at our worst.

By combining circus disciplines such as juggling and aerial rope with physical theater and live music, we aim to create scenes around these topics and images to evoke a sense of self-recognition in the audience. “We’ve all been there” is a feeling that permeates the performance as the trio stumbles through scenes from the highs and lows of Nordic nightlife. The performance aims to capture the feeling of these moments and abstract them through circus so that the audience can fill in the gaps with their own experiences and relate to the material from a very personal perspective.

Häppy Hour is supported by the Arts Promotion Center Finland, Tjarnarbio, The Nordic Council of Ministers, the Danish Arts Foundation, and Odense Municipality, produced by The Nordic Council and co-produced by DYNAMO and Nuua Company.

“A charming assembly of recognizable characters… Poetic fables alternating with a complete lack of self-importance.”ISCENE
