Under the theme ‘Magie Nouvelle – circus illusions’ DYNAMO has invited the Finnish juggler Aki Haikonen to stay for three weeks as an artist in recidency.
Magic on stage is a glimpse into an alternate reality. By bending what we know and expanding the possibilities, magic can provide a unique creative freedom to the artist. Free of restrictions of the repertoire, magic in this sense is not understood as a technique but as an expression of form.
During his stay Aki Haikonen will investigate the use of magic and illusions as performative elements on stage and at last present his works in a work in progress performance on October 18 at 4pm. The show will be followed by an artist talk.
Aki Haikonen is 23 years old and has been juggling almost all his life. This year he graduated as a bachelor in circus arts at DOCH, School of Dance and Circus in Stockholm. He has previously performed at European Juggling Convent and European Circus Festival among other.
The residency is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation and Odense Municipality
