Finnish artist Viivi Roiha spent this two-weeks residency in Denmark, to prepare for the premiere of her first solo performance V.
About the performance
Circus artist Viivi Roiha has been working with vertical rope since 1997. In the performance “V” she decides to shorten her rope. It no longer goes from floor to ceiling, but now measures only 2.5 metres.
This opens up new possibilities, greater distance and a different understanding of the discipline. A performance of strength, weakness, joy and failure.
About the artist
Viivi Roiha started her circus hobby in 1997 in the Pukinmäki youth circus school. This hobby turned into her profession later in her life, as she graduated from the circus artist program in Salpaus Further Education in Finland in 2009. After graduation, Viivi continued her studies in France in the highly appreciated Centre National des Arts du Cirque, and graduated from there in 2012.
This residency was made possible with support from Statens Kunstfond/Danish Arts Foundation, Odense Municipality and Det Finske Kulturinstitut i Danmark / Finnish Culture Institute in Denmark.
