Circus artist Johan Stockmar is spending this DYNAMO residency to work on his solo performance – Når det slipper løs // 𝚀𝚞𝚊𝚗𝚍 ç𝚊 𝚕â𝚌𝚑𝚎, produced under the company Cirque Emboîté.
A work in progress presentation takes place in DYNAMO on 12th April 2026.
About the performance
The piece explores the language of circus through a playful and experimental approach, where bodies, objects, and structures interact in constantly shifting configurations. The artists construct and deconstruct forms, creating a kind of living mechanism in which balance, risk, and cooperation are central. Rather than presenting a fixed narrative, the performance unfolds as a research process: a space where trial, error, and invention are visible. The audience witnesses how movement, scenography, and collective dynamics evolve in real time. Ultimately, Le Cirque Emboîté invites spectators into a poetic and physical exploration of structure, instability, and collaboration—where meaning emerges through action rather than being imposed in advance. About the artist
Johan was born in Denmark, where he grew up between fields and forests. From a young age, he was fascinated by objects—taking apart his toys, never putting them back together, turning it into an endless construction
project. This curiosity became the foundation of his artistic inspiration. He discovered circus with Cirkus Tværs, a social circus in Aarhus (Denmark), before training at Cirkus Cirkör in Stockholm (Sweden, 2016-2019) and
later at the Académie Fratellini (France, 2020-2023), specializing in cigar box juggling.
Since 2021, he has performed in Cousumain, a young audience creation by Compagnie BAL. He also leads two projects: Cirkus Grand Danois in Denmark (on tour 2025-2027), and Cirque Emboîté, with Quand ça lâche (Autumn 2026).
