OPEN CALL – A Circus Career in Constant Flow

Under the headline “A circus career in constant flow” DYNAMO Workspace invites mid-career circus artists in groups or as solo-artists to apply for becoming “Artist in residency” in April 2020.

DYNAMO Workspace aims to support the circus environment to its fullest extent. We therefore want to provide space for the development and artistic immersions of artists throughout their careers and life.

We find that residency centers and festivals around Europe have a primary focus on upcoming artists and groups, and with this Open Call, we therefore want to offer a residency to experienced artists/groups.

We urge any performing circus artist who wants to experiment with new techniques/or keep the old ones in check to apply for this residency, whether you would like to try out ideas or maybe try out new formats and collaborations.

DYNAMO Workspace provides:

The space:
As a group/artist in residency at DYNAMO you are provided with your own workspace of approx, 130m2.

You get access to basic circus rigging equipment, crash mats and such. (Our max height for rigging in ceiling is 6 meters.) Basic lights and sound.

If the residents require special circus gear/equipment, it is the artist in residency who are responsible for bringing or acquiring the equipment to DYNAMO Workspace.

Artistic sparring:

Your residency at DYNAMO is initiated with a Masterclass of your choice. please note the masterclass will be open for other artists as well.

To ensure a fruitful process we at DYNAMO furthermore urge you to host us in your workspace once a week, for an artistic check-in.

Lunch:
Dynamo prepares lunch and we eat together every weekday.

What we wish from you:
The company/artists in residency will be expected to document their process, the observations they’ve done and their ideas as they developed.

The residency will end with an open viewing/sharing in front of an audience consisting of other artists and people working in the field of circus and the performing arts in general.

Economy:

DYNAMO will provide you with accommodation for the full duration of your stay.

We will cover transportation costs of up to 200 € pr. person, to and from Odense at the beginning and end of the residency.

You receive 400 € pr. person to cover meals during your stay.

As an artist or group in residency at DYNAMO you furthermore receive 1.500 € (incl. TAX) to use as you wish, whether it is to share among you as a salary or to invest in the project.
