Circus Seminars

DYNAMO Circus Seminars are a series of talks, panels, workshops, work in progress and reflections, taking place on 5th-6th August, ahead of the 2021 DYNAMO Circus Festival.

We created the Seminars to bring together circus professionals from the Nordic Region and the rest of Europe, and to facilitate a platform for organisers, producers, performers and creators to share knowledge and best practices across the region.

Through a programme of talks, open discussions, workshops and informal debates, the Seminars will allow participants to gain a shared understanding of obstacles and solutions regarding production and post-production sustainability. We invite the guest speakers and workshop leaders to take a starting point in current challenges, with a focus on imagining and designing a more sustainable future for contemporary circus, in the Nordic Region and beyond.

The main themes for the Seminars are: a) Circus Mobility, b) The Circus Feedback Culture, and c) Circus: A Hardcore Culture.  As a continuation of the 2019 Professionals’ Day talks, around topics of injury and safety, we curate these themes to dive deeper into themes of mental and physical working environments, the nuanced understandings of trauma and its aftermath, social and ecological sustainability for performers, and a continuous creative development throughout an artist’s career.

By inviting professionals to share their practices, the Seminars are expected to take us closer to a common understanding of the stages of creating, producing, presenting, supporting, and touring a circus production, in a Nordic and European context.

Join us for the two days of knowledge and networking by signing up using the form below. Participation to Circus Seminars gives you a discount of 20% off the partout ticket to the festival (a discount code will be sent to you with the registration confirmation).
